Old faithful

After 10 years, my beloved ’91 (bought in ’94) nissan pickup finally showed signs of slowing down. Actually today was a clear signal – she failed to start.

I was on my way out from work and walked into our parking garage. I started up my car and heard a loud scratching sound as the motor turned and started. The screeching sound made we wonder if I had an oil leak and my gauges failed to warn me. So I shut the engine off, popped the hood and checked my oil levels. All was well so I tried to start up the car again.. nothing. All I would hear was a clicking sound as I turned the key. The lights in the car were on, but the starter motor was just not turning.

Thankfully I had some co-workers who lived in the southbay and were willing to offer me a ride from San Mateo to Santa Clara. So hopefully in the morning when I get back to work, my car can be towed to a nearby mechanic to get fixed.

Thank you Lord that the car stopped while parked in our garage and not while I was on the San Mateo bridge!
