Jesse Jackson fights for Terri Schiavo
Amazing. In sharp constrast to the silence of Sen. Hilary Clinton and John Kerry over the Schiavo case, Mr. Jesse Jackson who has also been known as the “conscience of the Democratic party” speaks and fights for Terri Schiavo after being invited by the Schiavo family.
Jackson calls the death of Terri Schiavo, not a peaceful death but a “violent death.”
Rev. Jesse Jackson has broken with his fellow Democrats to blast what he said was the “violent” execution of Terri Schiavo, calling it “a great moral and ethical crisis that we should address.”
“This woman’s being starved and dehydrated to death,” he complained.
“Eleven days – no food and no water. This is not right.”
“She is not brain dead, she is brain impaired. All her vital signs are working.”
“And to cut off her food and water his heartless,” he admonished.
He goes on to sound the alarm on the ethical issue surrounding this case saying:
“They’re dehydrating her to death,” said Jackson, “and that raises profound ethical questions. That tube should be reinstated. She is not brain-dead. She’s brain impaired. It’s not right to starve her to death.
“That’s not right ethically.”
According to Fox newshe goes on to say:
“I feel so passionate about this injustice being done, how unnecessary it is to deny her a feeding tube, water, not even ice to be used for her parched lips,” said Jackson, who has run for president as a Democrat. “This is a moral issue and it transcends politics and family disputes.”
It is very refreshing to hear Mr. Jackson speak with moral clarity.
