That’s right, you heard it from a new Apple owner. I’ve been using iPhoto and have enjoyed its simplicity but after using Picasa2, game over. Before I go any further, it must be said that Picasa was clearly a ripoff of the iPhoto user interface. However, Picasa has exceeded the functionality and usability of iPhoto. Picasa even has a blog to cover its extensive feature set.
The one major feature I enjoy on Picasa is the editing options, namely Tuning and Effects. Tuning allows you to adjust the lighting conditions of your pic while Effects gives you a variety of glow, sepia, b/w, kind of effects that look very sharp. iPhoto comes close at doing this, but the range of options and the intuitive interface makes you wonder if the lead iPhoto engineer left Apple and joined Picasa/Google! Picasa’s classic timeline feature is also very nice giving you a picture view of your pictures. This is extremely helpful when viewing hundreds of pictures (I’m talking to you parents with your digital cameras).
In our new Information Reformation Age, Picasa also has an edge in terms of blog integration with Blogger and picture sharing.
After searching in vain in the Picasa, supported platforms, only windows is supported. Please Picasa, support OS X!

Is there a Windows alternative to iPhoto’s slideshow capability? As far as I can tell, Picasa just doesn’t have this. Wish it did. Please reply directly if possible
Yes, Picasa can easily do slideshows.
