Google Map hack: GMaps Pedometer

If you haven’t tried Google Maps its clearly a powerful tool utilizing the latest Web 2.0 features, namely AJAX.  There have been several hacks that make the most of the Google Maps API but this GMaps Pedometer tops the list.  It measures the distance of a chartered couse that you create on a map.

Essentially it will let you measure the distance of your custom set of directions.  For example, I’ve created a course for my bike route that I take.

If your car doesn’t have GPS or if you ride bicycles and don’t have a cycling computer, GMaps Pedometer is a great tool for measuring your charted course.
