Sports Doping Division
In light of all the news of sports doping scandals, why don’t we have a new category of sports that allows doping? After all professional sports have fallen far from a love for the game into more of a love of the fame mentality among athletes. Pro sports has become far too entrenched in dollars and entertainment so my proposal is this – let’s take it all the way.
In car racing there are two fundamental categories, stock and modified. Stock cars are limited in the engine size, weight, and other materials that may allow the car to go faster. Modified, on the other hand, are wide open into the amount of dollars that can be put into the car to make it go faster. Let’s apply that rule into the world of human sports where you can have Natural and Performance sporting events.
Natural sporting events would cater for the sports “purists” allowing only athletes who decide not to use any kind of performance enhancing drugs. The runners will be a little slower, the movement of the game probably a little less spectacular, but at least we can say that nobody is on the juice.
Performance sporting events would allow and encourage all the players to use as much dope as they want in order for their bodies to be pushed to the extreme limit! Imagine the new world records that would be set by these high-performant athletes! Half-times would have locker rooms buzzing with a mix of coaching and doping as athletes re-energize.
Pro sports has become such an entertainment sport that we should just cut to the chase and take it to its logical conclusion.
