ER Episode Explained

Some months back I posted this clip from the TV series ER. I found it to be a very clear presentation of where our minds go when death is near. The man on the hospital bed asked very real and very hard questions such as “is atonement possible with God?” That is can one be forgiven of their sins and if so how? The woman plays the part of a “minister” and cannot answer these questions because her answers are rooted in her opinion and quickly dismissed. We can all relate to this whether we believe in God or not. Common sense tells us that we agree that we cannot think our way into forgiveness or hope our way into forgiveness of crimes/sins done in the past.
