Mike Thompson update #5

Here’s the latest update regarding Mike Thompson’s recovery:

In meeting with the Oncologist, he classifed this as Multiple Myeloma
due to the combination of the Plasmacytoma and the bone marrow plasma
level between 5-10%. A normal bone marrow plasma level would be less
than 5%. The treatments will be low dose radiation starting July 15th
and no chemotherapy. Mike will also be taking (and remaining on) a
medication (name escapes me?) for systemic treatment which should
lower, and maintain, the bone marrow plasma level to below 5%.

All other tests results were really good, really normal, and Mike
is in otherwise really good health. The Cytogenetics report was also
nortmal. Cytogenetics is the study of chromosomes and the related
disease states caused by numerical and structural chromosome
abnormalities. In other words, it’s not in his genes. The cause of this
is unknown and we may never know what caused it.

We continue to ask for and covet your prayers for Mike’s recovery and the good physical and spiritual health of our family.

One thing to keep in mind: for the Thompsons this will be a very long recovery process.
